02 / Definition
What is Strain (cultivar)?
A strain, more accurately called a cultivar, is a named cannabis variety bred for a consistent set of traits such as appearance, aroma and cannabinoid content. Names like “Durban Poison” or “Amnesia” identify a particular lineage rather than a guaranteed effect. Because seeds vary, the same strain name can still show different phenotypes from one grower to the next.
