- Start at the low end of the range for the first 2 weeks. If your pet tolerates it well — no diarrhoea, no excess sedation — you can titrate upwards.
- This is a suggested starting range based on published veterinary research (Cornell 2018 / Frontiers Vet Sci 2023 / Deabold 2019). It is not a prescription. Always talk to your vet — especially if your pet is on other medication, has liver or kidney disease, is pregnant, or is very young.

- Talk to your vet first, particularly if your pet takes prescription medication (NSAIDs, phenobarbital, ketoconazole) — CBD shares CYP450 enzymes with these drugs and can affect their blood levels.
- Use a pet-specific product. Human CBD can contain xylitol, essential oils, citrus or chocolate flavours that are toxic to dogs and cats.
- Check the COA. An independent US study of 29 OTC pet CBD products found 17 of the 27 containing CBD were outside ±10% of the labelled concentration. Buy from sellers who publish a per-batch Certificate of Analysis.
- Start low and titrate up. Two weeks at the low-end dose before adjusting. CBD effects in pets build gradually for chronic use; situational dosing is single-shot.
- Watch for side effects. Mild sedation, excessive thirst, soft stool. Severe or worsening symptoms → stop CBD, call your vet.
