The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a signalling network found throughout the human body, made up of receptors, naturally produced endocannabinoids and the enzymes that build and break them down. It helps regulate everyday processes such as mood, appetite and sleep. Plant cannabinoids like THC and CBD are of interest because they interact with this same system.
