Prince judgment

The Prince judgment (Minister of Justice v Prince, 2018) is the Constitutional Court decision that decriminalised the private use, possession and cultivation of cannabis by adults in South Africa. The Court held that criminalising these private activities infringed the constitutional right to privacy. It does not permit public use, and it does not authorise dealing in or commercial sale of cannabis.
